Lullymore Heritage Park

Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park is located in Ireland’s most famous peatland, the Bog of Allen in Rathangan Co. Kildare and is  just 40 minutes from Portlaoise. It was opened by President Mary Robinson in 1993 and has since developed into a leading attraction for international and Irish visitors. The Park is set on 60 acres of breath-taking landscape and explores Irish heritage, culture and environment with woodland/peatland trails, gardens and exhibitions. Lullymore Heritage is the only attraction in Ireland offering a comprehensive insight into the Irish Peatlands and the people living around it.

Take a 9,000 year journey back through landmark periods of Irish history with exhibitions and multimedia displays, from the early Mesolithic settlers and the dawning of Christianity to the 1798 Rebellion and the Great Famine. Discover the history of the raised bogs which were 10,000 years in the making.  Spend time on the Biodiversity Boardwalk, see the glassy lakes and peatlands of birch, heathers and bog cotton.

It’s also a great place for the little ones with a state-of-the-art indoor forest-themed play centre, outdoor play area with crazy golf, pet farm, train trips and lots more including a wide range of themed events throughout the year, Easter, Summer, Halloween, Christmas.
